\\ itli the coming of winter ami the season when the domestic supply in Britain of eggs will lie small we hear much of the schemes for stimulating supplies from Imperial sources. r lhus South Africa records the first of the new season’s shipments reaching Southampton last week. 3800 boxes. The Union Government has introduced a scheme of grading and marketing for its export trade, which has so ta proved successful. All consignments are officially inspected before shipment, in accordance with the strict Government grading regulations, and the provision of adequate cold store accommodation in the liners has proved an important factor in this new trade. Regular consignments will continue to reach the i nited Kingdom up to the end of December.

. ,im ila r arrangements have been made for the shipment of eggs from Australia. The first shipment reached London last week in the Hobson’s Bay. It. consisted of 144.272 dozen, and was the first consignment to leave Australia under the new regulations, which provide for packs of loll).. 161 b., 171 b. and 181 b. per Tong hundred. The eggs arc thus of uniform size, and the quality of them is reported by the trade to be excellent. Never before have the people of this country had such a chance of getting really dependable eggs at a reasonable price in winter. New Zealand will thus have a highly competitive market in which to make good on the arrival of her first shipments. which are due here shortly.
