TO LEASH COCKATOO ISLAND CANBERRA, Dec. 6.
The Federal Cabinet completed the preparation df the doml'itions governing die lease of Cockatoo Island dockyard. Within ten days the Government will call for tenders from Australian and British firms. The lease will he offered over a long term.
TWO GIRLS DROWNED

Violet Lewis, aged eight, and Aileen Lacey, aged ten, were caught in a strong undertow and carried out to sea and drowned at South Melbourne beach Two others were saved. Harry Brest, a life-saver, alter strenuous efforts, brought one girl ashore, but oflorts to revive her failed'? The body of the other victim was later washed ashore.

A Bowen message says the body of a man Buchanan, who disappeared reready, was found at Bowen Biver, with a bullet wound in the hack. Foul play is suspected. Black trackers are following tracks near the scene of the murder.
