TYPHOID FEVER

There are now over seventy patients in Cloncurry Hospital suffering from typhoid ifever. No deaths have occurred hut some are serious. Women and men volunteers are assisting the nursing staff.
JOCKEY DISQUALIFIED
FOR USING BATTERY ON A HORSE
ADELAIDE, December 4. Tile Sou flu Australian Jockey Ciub Committee has disqualified for life, J. Clark, an apprentice rider, for having used a battery on the horse Antoym at Gawlor races'/on October 20th.

William Austin, aged eighty-two, was attacked by a cow at Granville. He was badly gored in the stomach. The animal made repeated attacks and twice threw him into the air, until driven off by' passers by. Twenty stitches . had to be inserted in the wounds in the stomach. His condition is serious^
DAMAGED AVOOL. BRISBANE, December 4. The steamer Kowarra, brought 4528 bales of the Tango Maru’s wool to port. It was thoroughly inspected by the underwriters, who found it to bo in a bad condition.
