TWO GIRLS DROWNED. (Australian Press Association). (United Service). SYDNEY, Dec. 3. May Irvine, aged seventeen, and Kathleen Crcdan, aged nineteen, were drowned in a dam on the Murrumbidgee River, near Lockhart, when the limb of a tree overhanging the water, on which they wore sitting, snapped. A male companion made repeated efforts at rescue but their desperate struggles forced him to let go. The bodies were not recovered. DIVER ALBERT RETURNING. SYDNEY, Dec. 3. Tho diver, Albert, is returning to Sydney from Thursday Island, as the result of a subpoena requiring him|to give evidence at tlio appeal of Silas Maling. SENATE ELECTION. MELBOURNE, Dec. 3. Tho Victorian Senate count hvas completed at the week-end and resulted in R Elliott (Country Party) winning the third seat. The otheis wore won by a Lalbounto and a Nationalist.
