QUAKE DISASTER
IN CENTRAL CHILE

A disastrous earthquake which occurred in Central ( bile about 200 miles south of this city this morning, resulted in manv deaths, which are unofficially estimated to number 2*7. The towns of Talea and Chilian, being the heaviest sufferers, while ten other places have been known to have suffered serious property damage and some loss of life. The chaotic condition of all communication Inis delayed accurate information. Army officers flew over the stricken area and upon return suggested the despatch of troops t„ dear the debris anil remove bodies from the ruined buildings. SANTIAGO, December 1.
