The weather which was very wet on Friday night and early on Saturday morning, cleared towards noon and the afternoon was gloriously line, enabling the motor boat regatta to take place on ihe river, a very large crowd gathering on the river hanks and wharl to view the races. The motor-ship Zingara arrived in the roadstead yesterday afternoon and alter three attempts crossed the bar safely, reaching the wharf at 4 .MO p.m.. 2A- hours after high water, and the tide 1 had fallen considerably when she arrived off the bar. The vessel alter discharging cargo started loading a cargo of timber for Wellington. She sails again to-morrow afternoon, leaving at 4 o’clock, and aiftcr discharging at Wellington leaves for Hokitika direct.
