A GIFT AEROPLANE
ABRIVING IN JANUARY
AUCKLAND, Nov. 29
The New Zealand manager for C. C. Wakefield • and Co. Ltd., Mr Walter Ingle, has received advice that the gift aeroplane from Sir Charles Wakefield to the New Zealand Government is to* arrive on January 2nd. by the steamei Mamihus.
The offer of a light ’plane to aid in the development of civil aviation within the Dominion was made in June last. The Government did not hesitate in its acceptance with- sincere thanks for the donor’s generous and publicspirited action. The development of civil aviation has always interested Sir Charles Wakefield, and as early as 1910 lie pointed out the importance of aviation from the Imperial point of view-, appealingfor’public support and enthusiasm. Bis latest gift is but one of many made throughout the Empire. He made a similar gift a short time previously to the Couihfontvealth Government at the termination of .Bert Hinkler’s remarkable flight. from England to Australia, which he accomplished in 16 days.
