There was fine weather and a large crowd for the first day of the Fe.l.iing spring meeting. The track was in splendid order, and the racing was good. One accident occurred in ihe Kitzroy Hack, when , Borsalene fell, causing Briar Boot also to fall. The latter’s jockey, T. Metcalf, was rolled on, and was taken to the hospital suffering with concussion. The tote handled £20,357, as against £25,777} on the first day last year.
