AUCKLAND, November 30,

At the final session of the Presbyterian Assembly to-day, on the motion of Rev. Rybeurn, a committee was appointed to' be called a Committee of Friendly Relations with Sister Churches,’ to collate information as to what m'eas-.’ ures of co-operation between churches was already operating in the matter of church union and to promote closer association in whatever ways possible.

The Assembly resolved that the scientific teaching of temperence.instruction of young people be co-ordinated with the Youth Department, that a Band of Hope movement be encouraged and continued. It was also resolved that the advisability of retoring local option should be considered.

Rev. Connie, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the New Zealand Alliance, said they were faced with reconsidering the whole position. Ihe Alliance executive had been called to meet early in December. The whole position was being considered with the utmost care. When it was suggested that the Alliance be thanked for its zealous work, Rev. Comrie warned the Assembly against doing anything that might be misunderstood. The.
