A Government grant was made last month for tin* further clearing of Raft Creek, Kokatahi, and the work is now being put in hand. It will assist to further relieve the swamp area in the region of White Road. The Public: Wiorks Department is carrying the work out.

He had lived m Westport in retirement during the last few years.

The Westland County Council has been notified of a grant of £750, £3 for £1 for the Little Wanganui river protection work at Harilmri. The work is now being put in hand. The settlers through the local River Board are contributing £l5O and the work will he carried out hy the County staff. As •soon as this work is out of hand, the staff will erect the new bridge on tbe Big Wanganui river track in the same locality.
