The small coastal steamer Excelsior from bake Macquarie with coal, sprang a leak, but managed to limp into Sydney heads to-day. where she was beached, and saved from sinking in the nick of time. The Excelsior replaced the White Bay, wrecked last d: ’ The sole survivor, Alan Grienpero, on that occasion, was aboard the Excelsior.

CONSTITUTION OF ANGLICAN CHURCH. .

SYDNEY, Nov. 26

Representatives of the Anglican clergy and laity all over Australia, gathered in Sydney to-dav, on a momentous mission, namely, to consider the constitution of the Anglican Church in Australia, together with the amendments suggested by the Diocese of Svdnev.

MALI NG’S APPEAL DISMISSED.

SYDNEY, Nov. 26,

Muling’s appeal to tlic High Court against the sentence of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of £->OO. on the ground that the State Courts have no jurisdiction, was dismissed to-day. Maling’s counsel contended that the offence, if any. had been against the Federal Act covering secret commissions.

This point being disposed 01, Maling’s next stop is to appeal to the Quarter Sessions, now pending.

FEDERAL ELECTIONS. SYDNFY, November 27

Doctor Earle Page (Federal Treasurer) predicts the Government should have a majority of thirteen or fifteen in the House of Representatives, which is more satisfactory than at first anticipated. Three seats are still in doubt, the result of which should lie known on Wednesday.

.Ministerial candidates for the Senate in all States are now making a better showing than their Labour opponents, but the count is far from complete.
