From Lindsay Russell, Christchurch, submitting terms for screen advertising at Christchurch and Auckland. — Received. Two months’ advertising in Cliristchurch were approved at a cost of Cl 3. and it was resolved to include Auckland for one month at a cost of £lO. if local subscriptions suggested were received.
From Graham Bros. AYaiho Gorge, offering to contribute to screen advertising scheme.—Received with thanks, quota fixed at £4. From Eric James. Dunedin, stating that a party of students from Otago University were visiting the Rod Hill country beyond Jackson’s Bay, in January under Professor Turner, for the purpose of collecting mineral specimens.—Received. Satisfaction was expressed at the project, and it was resolved to write and enquire what could be done to assist. It was pointed out any available maps or reports by early "xplore-rs should be procured for the in.ormation of the visitors. GENERAL.
Appreciation was expressed of the work's being undertaken in the district bv the Public AYorks Department and it was resolved to write the District Engineer an expression of the local satisfaction felt at activities of the Department and the various useful works in band.
Reference was made to an early visit of the District Engineer to select the Mto for the new shelter at Lake Kanieri near Tuhiia track, and the President and Air Evans were deputed to accompany the Engineer on the occasion of the visit.
Mr Bruce suggested that the apnroaeli to ffbihua track at Lake Kanieri should lie clearly defined. It was decided to arrange for the erection of the necessary finger posts. It was resolved to meet Mr Sterling, General Afanager of Railways, on the occasion of his approaching visit to disuss matters affecting the time-table, and the matters of cheaper freights for stock feed railed from Canterbury by returning empty trucks.
Reference was made to the necessity for road access to Lake Mahinapun. It was stated proposals were sent in for a metalling contract hut there was not enough money at present available to Travel the full length from Ruatapu. When authorised the present work would he put in hand promptly. The matter of an aerial landing for the district was referred to. Lake Mah'napua was considered an ideal landing place for seaplanes and a clearing on S°n View hill an ideal site for an aerodrome. Both situations, it was suggested should he brought under the notice of the authorities.
