A SCHOLARSHIP.

AUCKLAND, Nov. 26

Hon. Fowlds (Chairman of the Alassey Agriculture College Council) lias received information that Air A. C. Lawson, of Tooley Street, London, will donate a scholarship at college for a dairy factory manager course of £25 a year tenable for three years, contingent upon satisfactory progress being made each year by the student.

BODY FOUND. GISBORNE, Nov. 26

The body of Samuel AValker, 16, missing at Puha, was found in the river near a dangerous ford which he had attempted to cross in search of cows. Deceased had only arrived from Ireland eleven weeks ago.

Alexander Cairns, a seaman, was committed for trial on a cliaige of bigamy. Bail of £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each was allowed.

CHURCH AIEETING

PAHIATUA, November 26

At a largely attended meeting of the Presbyterian * Church yesterday morning, a unanimous resolution was carried requesting the minister, Rev. F. McDonald, to remain with the congregation. Rev. McDonald has received a call to Ivaitaugata (Otago). The matter will he dealt with by the AYairarapa Presbytery at the Assembly at Auckland this week.

Speeches were made eulogising the work of Mr McDonald, and also of his wife, during his pastorate.
