Sino-Japanese negotiations for a settlement of outstanding questions, which have boon proceeding at Nankincr intermittently lor tho pa-s month are all believed to have definitely broken down, in consequence of China's insistence and Japan s refusal to evacuate Shantung. Yada, Japanese Consul-General at Shanghai, who has been representing Japan telegraphed to the home Gov-, eminent for /specific, instructions in regard to Shangtung question. Tokio’s answer brought a deadlock. Doctor Wang, Chinese representative terminated the negotiations accordingly.
