THE DAIRY INDUSTRY

FIVE WEEK'S REVIEWED

Messrs A. IT. Turnbull and Co.. New Zealand representatives I'm Messrs W. Wedde! and Co., London, review the dairy produce market fo. the [last live weeks as* follows: Since our report the following havbeen the top .London quotations foi dairy produce:— i>unish Butter—

Butter. —As shown hy the above table of quotations, there lias been .

I‘airly steady market, with the exception that Danish lias improved in value as is usual with the approach oi winter conditions, whilst New Zealand shows some weakening with tlie increase in production and shipment, now being quoted at 178 s, against 184: on October 13th. Messrs \V. Wedde and coy., Ltd., report that' during tin continuance of the Australian strike buyers continued to operate sparingly, hut with the increasing arrivals dm during Novemfoer, any anxiety re garding supplies has passed, makin forward business almost impossible, (sale of afioats have been made at B 4Jd. Our advices are that the market remain steady, hut with tin possibility of some further slight do cline. Meantime there is a bettei demand at the present reduced market quotations. Cheese.--The cheese position i.s sti 1' good, and although quotations arc showing an easing in price, we do no expect any very rapid fall. Certainly the heavier stocks of New Zealand cheese arriving and afloat, may have a tendency to ease quotations alter the recent shortage, hut owing to the statistical position, we venture to believe that the market will, like butler, remain fairly steady. Grading figures are as follows;
