Nervousness, is one of the drawbacks against learning to swim. A writer says: Thousands never learn to swim because of fear of the water. There is nothing to fear. Wade into water waist deep, place hands upon knees, legs wide apart, and gradually bend forward until the face is near the surface. Take a deep breath, submerge face and exhale slowly through nose, seeing to it that breath is exhaled with sufficient force to cause bubbling of water at nostrils. Repeat performance, and open eyes under water. Next, get a stone as big as a cricket ball, ...'op it into water near the feet, stoop, submerge face, open eyes, and pick it up.
