While sailing in Botany Bay, George Hornier, aged 18, lost, his balance and fell overboard. His brother, Albert, aged 21, dived to his assistance. The third member of the party was unable to manage the skiff and the brothers disappeared before he reached them.

Addressing Rotarians, Mr 0. T. Madigan commented on the economic importance of the Antarctic whale fishing whales is being explored by Norwegians. An international agreement was required to prevent the extinction of whales. The terrific polar winds might some day be harnessed for power. Australia should send another expedition to follow up the work done fourteen years ago and to claim the land flagged then, though colonisation might prove a delicate question since France could claim bounty on certain lands discovered long ago.
