SIR JOSEPH WARD

REVIEWS THE POSITION.

(By Telegraph—Press Association)

CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. IG

“There i.s no doubt as to the result of the General Election, the Government i.s out." So said Sir Joseph A Yard in an interview this morning. Tho next move rests with tho Prime Minister. He either may resign without calling Parliament together or lie may call Parliament together almost immediately. The question of Labour or United Party. s|K*aking broadly, doesn’t arise at present. He added that the whole question was that the Government was in a minority and constitutionally it could not advise the representative of the King as to appointments.

There was an interesting case some years ago. The Conservative Government of the day bad to notify tlie Governor, in writing, that it had a majority. He <1 id not think that that position would arise again, unless the Reform Government adopted any other course Imt the right one. Sir Joseph added that the final results must wait until the absent votes bad been counted. A number of seats would be changed and the final decision of the people would have to be awaited before the position would bo clear.

SIB. JOSEPH WARD'S MOVEMENTS (TTBISTfTIURCII, November Hi. Sir Joseph Ward arrived from Invercargill this morning and goes to Wellington. to-night.
