During tlio past couple of weeks or so the swimming pool at the Municipal Baths has heen under repair. It passed out of the hands of Mr Hcatherley, the contractor for the repairs, yesterday. The baths present quite a changed appearance. The whole of the surface of the concrete was cleaned and redressed. Damaged or cracked parts had .special attention and the outflow was cleared. In re-concreting and surfacing the baths in a white material, a marked improvement was effected by rounding off all corners and the bottom connection with the sides. The whole has heen finished off in a white colour, and when the clear, clean water was pumped in yesterday, reflected a new and very pleasing sight. The baths were available for use to-day, and in the present attractive state are sure to he rushed. The cleanly appearance is practically as effective as tiling, and certainly less expensive. The youngsters particularly will bo revelling in the baths during this season, and it is expected that adult patrons will also increase in number. Arrangements are in band to hold a sports opening with a view to raising money to assist in the payment for the cost of the improvements just carried out so successfully.
