STOCK PRICES AT ADDINGTON
IMPROVED RATES FOR FAT STOCK.
At tin* metropolitan weekly market, held at Addington on Wednesday, there was a keen demand in price by about Is a bead.' The entry was a comparatively small one. and butchers, after Carnival Week, appeared to he short ol supplies. The demand for fat cattle was not so good as it was at the double market a fortnight ago. Prime handy weights sold well, but plain heavy steers and cows eased hv about 20s a bead. An easing in price is not uncommon at this time of the year, tile advent of summer generally seeing a flecrea.se in the demand for beef. Fat lambs sold well, but. on account of the number forward, 550 bead, prices eased. Hatchers bought freely at the lower rates. Most classes of store sheep met with satisfactory competition, farmers apparently being more keen to buy now that the feed prospects have improved. Store cattle and dairy cattle both sold well, and vealers (it for killing made late rates. Porkers were in over-sup-ply, and, before the sale of them finished, prices were about down to the export level. Baconers, which were forward in small numbers, advanced sharply in price towards the end of the sale. There was a slight improvement, in the price of small store pigs, but the larger sorts were unchanged.
