From .Miss C. M. Prown asking for leave to attend university examination at (Iroynioiitli.—Received and action of the Chairman in granting permission was approved. From Miss A. Duff thanking Committee for granting two days’ leave ot absence.—Received. The Chairman explained the action taken, and his action was approved. From Education Hoard, stating balance of subsidy due would lie forwarder! at an early date.— Received.
From Health Department, Wellington. stating that owing to tbe resignation of Ah' Fouiiv, Dental Officer, and the difficulty of providing a substitute, that it would probably be Ala roll next before another officer was appointed.—Received. r I lie Chairman stated that the Health Officer at Greymouth had taken an inventory of the •(intents of the clinic. It was resolved to ask that, the vacancy in the dental clinic lie filled earlier than stated. From Air Foully, dental officer, reporting that during October there were 11 iG attendances by 48 pupils.—Received.
Emm T. E -A'. Hcddon, in reference io appreciation of supply of trees for school grounds, and asking if the Com mif tee would accept some (lowerin' 1 shrubs—Received.
From Air Foully, dental officer, nolii'ving’ lie had tendered his resignation as dental officer. —Received. Emm Woodstock School Committee forwarding £1 towards denial clinic expenses.— Received with thanks.
The tender of .J. Timpson for work m the grounds at £lO was accepted.
Accounts as scheduled were passed for payment. The Rector (Air F. Partridge) reported the attendance for the period was ‘282 out of the roll number of .‘lO7 in the primary and 02 and 9b for the mondary; that steps were being taken to draw the attention of the attendance officer to several bad offenders. Some necessary repairs authorised lmd been carried out satisfactorily; the dental officer had resigned and discontinued his duties. The agricultural officer had visited the school and laid out a course of work for the year. A number of teachers had been absent Mr a few days owing to illness. Some requirements were needed and asking for arrangements, to have the lawn cut regularly.- Received. Tbe requirements were authorised and action takii approved. Tim Visiting Committee (Messrs \i m strong a.nd Shannon) reported in < ompliiiicntary terms on the excellent appearance of the entrance to tbe .cbool grounds, and on several works put in hand: recommending the attention of the Board be directed to the necessity of having the roof of the school painted.—Received and agreed to. .Messrs Richards and Bwelicy were appointed visitors for the month. The Committee rose at 8 p.m.
