A very distressing accident occurred in tlie Lower Harbour this afternoon, when a vaclit carrying about six passengers capsized off Hto southern side of Quarantine Island. The accident was first noticed when the ferrv steamer AYnireka, winch was running" between the Island and Dunedin rounded the point, coming into the channel. The yacht appeared to he j.hout a U> footer, and when first seen, there were three men hanging to it. and another man was seen about (10 feef a wav. The last-named, however, disaoneared before help could he sent.
