It says officials, teachers and journalists have been murdered, Soviet buildings and Communists residences burned down, and Kulaks or rub peasants have broken up town meetings held to discuss the collection of agricultural taxes. The “Pravada” states outbreaks <0 violence are growing more desperate and murders of officials doubled compared with H 127. Kulaks seeking revenge for coiifncat ion of their property burnt oightv-fivo haystacks and a co-operatively owned grain elevator. A majority of Hie crimes are the direct result of the Government’s grain buying and 1 rigid collection ol taxes.

Crowds of locked out steel workers led by Communists stormed the Town Hall during a sitting of the Essen Municipality. The police twice dispersed the demonstrators who recharged with increased violence. The police had to use truncheons and swords. Many rioters were wounded.
