GENERAL ELECTION

Nlr T. K. Y. Soddon journeyed from Waiho north on Saturday and met the settlers at Tetaho and Herepo during the day. In the evening he addressed fbe electors at the large hall at Haribari, there being a good attendance. Rev. D. Osmers was Chairman. -In tho course of his address Mr Seddon referred to several local matters, to which attention had been paid or were to be attended. Ho specially stressed the river protection work, the estimated cost of which was £IOOO, and towards which the Minister of Public Works advised a subsidy of £750, the settlers and local bodies to find the balance. The work would be carried out by the County. The County Council was also to prepare proposals for the Big Wanganui track, the work to includo a much needed bridge. Several questions were put to Mr Seddon at the close of his address, and were answered to the approval of tho audience. Mr Seddon was thanked for his address with a yote moved by Mr T. Wells and seconded by Mr J. Ferguson.

Yesterday Mr Seddon returned to Greymouth where he concludes his campaign to-day and to-morrow, Wednesday being polling day r .

M.r Seddon. who returned Ifrom South Westland last evening, proceeded on to Greymouth. He referred to his tour south ns being highly satisfactory. During the few days be was able to devote to the district be bad spoken at most of the chief centres and visited all the centres it was possible to do. 11 is reception had been very cordial, and lie received many expressions of thanks in connection with his work in Parliament. The district requirements had been well attended to, and many of the settlers expressed gratification at the great improvements going forward in regard to loading and bridging. Mr Seddon thought his support south would be better than ever, and lie ret urned from the district well satisfied that bis efforts on behalf olf the settlers were greatly appreciated.
