BETTING RAID
jn v Telegraph, Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, N»v. s - Shoitly before one o clock this alteinoon. detectives made a raid on an ollice in His Majesty’s Arcade. As a result Clarence Bussell, Raymond Lewis and .John I'rentcr were chared before Mr Hunt, 8.M., at the Polki* Court, with using the premises as a common gaming house. David S.vmons, Arthur William K\eriss, and Henry Bmdman were chare. 0 ,1 W ith being unlawfully on the premises. , , . Tn each ease the defendants pleaded guilty. Chief Detective Hammond said itnssell was the keeper of a gaming house, while Lewis and Preuter were h.s assistants. or clerks. Neither of the latter had been before the Court he Ore. but about a year ago Bussell had been fined £SO for street betting.
