CHINA MAN GIVES HIMSELF UP

Tin* Chinaman, Chang Sang, wlio escaped from custody six months ago while awaiting trial for murders at Lotopa in October. 1927, surrendered to the police yesterday. He was remanded to the loth of November.

The centenary celebration of blunging Christianity to Samoa, by a Tongun native* missionary, is being held at Savaii this week. Those present include the Administrator, representatives of the Australian Methodist Church and a delegation representing the Queen of Tonga.
ABORIGINALS ACO PITTED

In the murder trial both aboriginals were acquitted and discharged. Constable Murray, in evidence, said that while in pursuit of the natives at least seventeen Aboriginals, including two Lubra-s, were killed. The Natives threw boomerangs which were effective at a hundred and fifty yards at the police constable. He added that the reason why the police did not shoot to wound, rather than kill, was because they had no means for succouring tlio.se wounded as they were hundreds of miles from civilisation.
