Imports into Australia for the quarter ended 30th September, showed a heavy drop of £.‘9,164,000 to £32,412,000. Imports, however, still exceeded the exports by £9.733,000. Produce was sent out of the country totalling £22,067.000. or a drop of £3.296,000. compared with a year ago. Ihe ehiel exporting period, it is pointed out. is ifrom October to. May when wool goes abroad and it expected the leeway will be made up.

A 110-confidence motion was launched in the Victorian Legislative Assembly against the Hogan Labour Government for failure to adequately protect volunteer maritime workers and check disorder. MURDER TRIAL
MELBOURNE, November 8
Kara win. an aboriginal youth, gi\ing evidence at the trial of the aboriginals charged with the murder of Frederick Brooks in Central Australia, said a 1 nhra was used as a decoy. Brooks was ambushed by a party of natives who clubbed him to death and buried his 1 indv in a rabbit button.
The police pursued the natives sixty miles into the bush. The natives showed fight and eight were shot dead. Two survivors are now undergoing trial.

An application has Iteeu made to the Commonwealth Industrial Begistrar for registration of a new union called the Australian Stamen’s lnjon. which is commencing with 400 members. Alfred Woodlord, of Adelaide. is mentioned in the register ns the first general president, and Thomas Kiw as general secretary, while Thomas Walsh is merely shown as an ordinary member. Mulsh declared the rules of the new union would give members absolute control over officials and cover bona fide seamen only. The Fnion would not shelter all kinds of characters. The captain of the steamer Mindoroo reports while the ship was at Singapore, a Cinnese fireman run all ,ok and attacked four of his countrymen while asleep in their hunks, and killed three. The Fremantle police have arrested the alleged attacker on a charge of murder.
