The weather was delightfully line for the Y.R.C. races- There was an enormous attendance for Cup Day, inchtdni"- the Governor-General and the State Governors.

Seventeen horses started. When the field settled down, The Happy Warrior led and showed the way past the stand from Dion. Strephon, Balmerino, Epilogue, Alfred the Great, Oatendale, Allecret, and Statesman, with Canning Queen and Uemost last. At the mile Strephon was only a length behind Tile Happy Warrior, and others prominent were Dion. Balmerino, Oatendale, Modraga and Kpilogue. while Statesman was moving up. Strephon took the lead at six furlongs, and at the half mile was just in front of Halmerino. and then came Alfred the Groat. Attaman and Statesman, with De-most still a long way back. Strephon led round tlu; turn and was the first into the straight from Statesman and Halmerino. Statesmen toolc charge below the distance, and ridden right out. be won by four lengths. The third horse was three lengths away. Then came Balmerino, Winalot, Canning Queen. Kpilogue. Oatendale, Allcorot. Dion, and Mondiago. The lasi two were The Happy Warrior and Banker.
Aluiiro stated that he had a clear run on (he inside, and went outside only two horses. Howes stated Strephon pulled hard early in the race, hut the winner was far too good. Modhurst’s mount, Demost, was a long way hack early in the race, hut- met no interference, and he came home strongly to get third. Cup ’ Steeples.— Kxtortion 1. Oral Treaty 2. Orange Park 3.
