A'ITEMIT TO DECEIVE POST

An entry for a deposit oi Lin in a Savings Bank pass hook made by herself led to the appearance of a manned woman in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Accused, who was represented hv Mr C. ,J. White, pleaded guilty to making the entry, knowing that it was false, and intending that it should he acted upon as if it were genuine. Leslie Smith, post office clerk, said that the pass hook was presented on October 20th for the insertion of interest. On checking the hook he lound the entry for the deposit of Llo, also initials in the receiving officer’s column, and a stamp purporting to he the office stamp of August Ist, 1927. A search was made at the office for the deposit slip, hut it could not be lound. There was no record other than the entry in the pass hook of the deposit having been made. Detective .Ji>nvey said that on October 29th he interviewed the accused at the Chief Post Office, and she made a statement admitting making the entry in the hook.

Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed in accused’s own recognisance of £SO. and at Mr White’s request an order was made suppressing her name.
