It is pleasing to note* that the operations of the Club for the pest •season have again been very successful. a small profit having been made on the year’s transactions. The Club’s annual race-mooting was held on the Hokitika Racecourse oil Tuesday, did January. Mil’s, and passed oil' very satisfactorily. Sphuidid nominations ami acceptances were received, and the hehhs were all large and well contested. The gate receipts amounting to .CfM.'L constituted a record for the club, and the sum ol L'DAL'i was passed through the t.ol.alisator, which must be considered quite satisfactory, although a slight decrease on the previous year’s turn-over of j .I't'vib.'b The Government taxation is | still a very heavy drain on the (in- 1 nnces of the Club and in this connection the sum of L'-I7f) (is 9d. was paid by-way of taxation, less a rebate ol Riper emit which amounted to L’77 Lis .‘id. Evans represented the

Club at the Annual Conference at Wellington in July last and we are much indebted to him in this connection. The trotting track has been well cared for by the caretaker, hut it will be necessary to have a top dressing of clay in several places where it is becoming worn out, and it is recommended that the necessary attention lie given to it without delay. Mclntosh. PROGRAMME. A programme was. drawn up, the stake money being the same ns at last meeting. The Rimu Goldfields Handicap was altered from saddle to harn:ss, and some minor alterations were niiidb to the other events as regards rules and in reference to the time limits, which were shortened in places. ft was resolved to visit the trotting track on Sunday next-to decide on ini-; provoiueiits stud attention required to the track.
