DISCLOSURES PROMISED.

LABOUR LEADERS

AA T ELLINGTON, October 31

Sensational disclosures of some oi the iniH'i' workings of flic Labour movement in New Zealand are expected to be made by Mrs .Margaret Young. wife of flic former secretary of the New Zealand Seaman’s Union (.Mr 11. T. Young), when she fires tbe lirst shot in her election campaign lor the Wellington Central seat on Mon day next. Mrs Young sprang an eleventh hour surprise on the electors by entering the fray as an independent Labour candidate, but in an interview with a representative of the ‘‘Lyttel ton Times” to-day she declared that she will produce justification lor her action and that the story will be told with the gloves oIF.

‘‘Among my reason for entering the contest,” Mrs Young stated, ‘‘is a linn belief that there is a place in the New Zealand Parliament ifor women members. In my opinion the viewpoint of womanhood and motherhood is a desirable one to have expressed, and its expression must lie of assistance in meeting the needs ol the women of our country. My husband has always been a staunch supporter oi Labour, and be lias worked like a d ro jan for the movement in New Zealand since its inception. It can be claim ed that Mr Young was the prime mover of the foundation of the Labour movement in the Dominion. It naturally follows that I should carry on the good work that he has started, and I am standing for Wellington Centra 1 in the interests of Labour. Of course I reside in the electorate ior which I am standing.”

“The next question.” continued Mrs A’oung, “is why I am contesting tin seat against: the official Labour candidate. .My answer is that I have always lieen dissatisfied at having Mos srs Holland. Fraser and Semple at tin head of the Labour movement in New Zealand. I have always judged them to he Communists and Bed I'eds and nl my first meeting next week I think T will he able to convince not only tin electors of Wellington Central, but of the whole of Now Zealand, that this statement is based on absolute truth “Under the leadership of such men us Messrs Holland. Fraser and Semple the movement cannot hope to progress. Their presence at the top has hold it hack in the past. The full story lias v it vet been told as lo h. w Messrs Holland, Fraser and Semple captured the positions they hold today.

“I mu a heart and soul worker for th«» workman and his wile” Mrs A ounp declared. ‘‘lf 1 am returned to Parliament my entire energies will be devoted to improving the lot of those who. perhaps, have not had the same chance as others have had. In regard to my nomination I wish to state that no one knew of it until Monday, the (lav the noninations closed. I am not backed by anybody but my own resolution.”
