Only 27 votes were recorded for the Commun ist candidate at Bradford. 32 Blackburn, and 110 at Wolverlr n y ton. The Socialists gains are mostly in the industrial centres. The biggest Labour success was in Liverpool, where tl7cre have been 11 gains. The Labourites have secured control of only one Council, that of Swindon. Mr Corbey, the Labour Mayor of Salford, who refused to wear a top hat in this year of office, or to attend church on the Mayor’s Sunday, was defeated by a hundred votes. There were six unemployeds’ candidates for Southwark. They seemed only a total of 252 votes.
