The Groymouth Bowling Club had a successful opening of the season yesterday afternoon, when there was a largo attendance of howlers present. At the Princess Theatre to-night Mr T. E. Y. Secklon will address the electors. 'Pile Mayor (Air Perry) will preside. The address is timed to commence at 8.10 o’clock, Mr Seddon having an earlier meeting at the Three Milo Hall, A rah ura Pond. A number of improvements are being carried out to Lake Knnieri Road l\v the County authorities. Coal Greek hill has been improved by widening the roadway and improving a bad turn, giving better visibility. "Widening is also taking place at Slip Hill to secure a dangerous corner. A considerable improvemnt to Boucher's Hill is also contemplated by widening the cutting through which traffic has to pass. 'l'lie road surface is also being attended to. The- Hokitika. Bowling Club will open the season on Saturday afternoon. All members, intending members and visitors are requested to he on the green promptly at 2.80 p.m. when sides for the annual game of President v. Vice-President, will bo chosen. The formal opening will take place immediately after that hour to enable play to at once commence, and at the afternoon tea adjournment the presentation of the Duncan Cup will he made to last year’s singles champion.
