ST ANDREW’S CHURCH

A PLEASING CONCERT

St. Andrew’s Hall was well filled last night when a con,cert was given under the auspicies of St. Andrew’s church choir. The choir, under the leadership of Mr Pilkington, rendered the anthem “ I Waited for the Lord,” by Mendelssohn and* were supported by an array of local talent which resulted in a most excellent and 1 popular entertainment. Miss Giese and Miss King acted as aecompanistes. Mr H. M. Coulson gave a very interesting description of a portion of his recent travels, his account oi the beauties of Honolulu being particularly fine. Mr Coulson also showed a number of moving pictures, which were much enioyed. The following is the programme and in every instance the performers had to submit to encores. Pianoforte solo, Miss Streeter; song, Miss Knight; song, Mr Dowell; solo, Miss Duff; recitation, Mr H. M. Coulson ; solo, Mr A. Perry; anthem, choir ; song, Miss Lynn; trio, Mr and Mrs Simpson and Miss Duff; solo, Mr G. Maxwell. The second part of the programme consisted of moving pictures with “Talk on Travels” by Mr H. M. Coulson. A vote of thanks to all who lmd assisted was moved by Mr Hayward and carried with acclamation and the proceedings closed with t-lies National Anthem.

YOUNG PEOPLES BAY. On Sunday last Young Peoples Bay was observed when special services were held which were .largely attended. The subjecjfc in the morning was “The Narrow Way.” and in the evening “The Christian Warrior.” with appropriate hymns and responsive readings. At the morning , .ser.vipe, the children under the training.,of Mi; S. J. Preston, sang suitable hymns, and there were solos by Millie Coulson and Audrey Olsen. At the evening service the leaders of the Bible Classes—-Miss Potts and Mr G. Maxwell—assisted, end Miss Buff rendered the solo “Nearer Mv God to Thee.” Miss Elsie Robinson presided at the organ in the morning and Miss Phyllis Thompson in the evening.
