DRAPERS’ ALLIES IN MARS. To end their three weeks of hard Work the delegates attending the Drapers’ Chamber of Trade Summer School at Cambridge got up a “rag’' at the Guildhall. When a dance habeen in progress for some time, it was discovered that many men had disappeared. The mystery was soon solved for, with a blast of toy trumpets, kazoos, Swanee whistles,' etc., an imposing company, clad in' turbans and all manner of fantastic; attire, dashed into the hall announcing that they were the allied traders from Mars and the executive council of the Drapers’ Torture Chamber. Proceeding to the platform, the “president” (one of the managers of a big drapery business), clad in a wonderful creation of blue feathers, opened the proceedings and called upon “delegates,” who were all made up to resemble in caricature the various lecturers who had spoken at the course, to make speeches. These took the form of skits on the lecturers’ narhes and discourses. The scene reached its climax when a sugar box on wheels, representing a knitting machine, was brough in, two of the men demonstrating on it.and pulling out a tremendous line of all sorts ol garments which were slung across the room.
