RAILWAY SMASH
AT AUCKLAND STATION
NO ONE INJURED

AUCKLAND, October 30.
A heavily laden goods train backing from the arrival platform of the city station this morning collided with a stationary .brain on the same line. They met head on, the moving train weighing 400 tons and the other train nbout 200 tons.
Of the former train, the whole of tilvehicles were considerably damaged. They comprised refrigerator wagons carrying butter arid cheese from Southdown freezing works for shipment by the Devon and Liverpool. It is impossible yet to state- the extent of the damage to the dairy produce train, which comprised four box wagons, five bogie wagons and an old passenger car. Tlie latter was smashed beyond repair.
Every vehicle was more or less damaged. Four W wagons and a passenger car left the rails. The stationary train received little or no damage.
No damage was done to the permanent way and no person was injured.
