WANAKA NOTES
(From a Correspondent).
Mr J. Hunt, a well known Pembroke resident has visionised, and Is putting into practise, a scheme, wheroby the at present neglected island which lies off Pembroke on the southern shores of Lake Wanaka will be put to a new use. This peaceful little beauty spot is to be the site § of a unique and picturesque cabaret. Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, ALP., advises that the Public Works Department have authorised the expenditure of £3OO to be used for building new huts where the old Burke Huts now stand on the Haast Pass track. . > : Air W. Watson,’ formerly manager , of the Pembroke White Star Office, is undergoing a course of photography. Air Turner, lecturer of Geology, School of Alines, Dunedin, is paying a geological visit to the Red’ Hills early in the New A 7 ear. The remaining stalking blocks in the Otago district have been taken up. The applicants include English sportsmen. . _
