Summer-Time saving has come into force and use in a very quiet manner, so quiet as to suggest the half-hour saved daily is almqst generally accepted as a matter of course. Looking back to all the comment a year ago when the hour was adopted, it does seem rather remarkable that those then in definite opposition, have been so docile on this occasion, . The law as passed, was put through with surprising haste, but was accepted by even opponents in Parliament, with quite a good grace and without any factious opposition. The half-hour appears to be appreciated generally, and this introductory acceptance of the proposal should lead in the not distant future to the full hour being adopted ultimately. Last year as the summer lengthened, the extra daylight was appreciated, affording ,so much more time for outdoor recreation, after the day’s duties were done This year the half horn’ available will give the taste for more, we quite expect, and public opinion will favour ultimately the adoption of the full hour. The observance of the extra hour of summer time is fully appreciated at Home, and that examp’e is so wide in its general application that it affords a good instance of the favour which attends the practical experience of the innovation. It will not be surprising to find a movement for the extra hour being launched, but Mr Si (ley retiring from Parliament, some other champion must take up the cudgels for daylight saving.
