VISCOUNT’S WEDDING
SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD WIFE. BOY AND GIRL ROMANCE. Viscount Loftus and Miss T'lioa Margaret Gordon Gronvold were married on September 5 at St. John the Baptist’s Church, Hove, England. More than oO) guests attended the ceremony and the reception, which was held at the Royal Pavilion, where a magnificent array of wedding presents, including a <3OOO- - Egyptian bracelet and a Turkish coffee set from King Hussein XI.. had been on view. The bridegroom is the only surviving son and heir of the Marquis of Ely, n.irl the bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs L, G. Gronvold, of Hove and Tvedes’trand, Norway. Miss Gronvold, though aged only ' ‘ is almost six feet in height,' and as she walked up the nave of the church liefair complexion was set off admirably, by her robe of silver lace embroidered with pearls , and diamante. 'lt was Spanish in stylo, and a long silver-lace train was lined with blush-pi,nk chiffon. Her tulle veil fell from a coronet of pearls, and she carried a spray bouquet of white orchids.
The wedding, which took place on the twenty-fifth birthday of Lord Loftus, il the result of a boy and girl romance. Lord Loftus met his wife at Hove at one of her birthday parties when he was in his teens. They were engaged last May, and at the time the M'arqei of Ely said that lie considered his prospective' daughter-in-law an ideal type of young women. “ She neither smokes nor drinks cocktails,” he said. “ No> is she yet bobbed. I think my son a very ‘fortunate young man.”
The bride traces her descent from Kino- Edward HI. and Robert IH. of Scotland. The wedding cake was cut by a sword which belonged to Strong bow, the famous Earl of Pembroke, and is an heirloom of the Ely family.
