(United Press Association —By ElectricTelegraph—Copyright).
(Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 25
Lord Birkenhead’s new book “More Famous Trials” issued to-day, contains a surprise admission that there is a lingering doubt about the guilt of Mrs Thompson' in the famous Bvwaters case. He admitted she planned and plotted the murder, recognising that if he had presided at the trial, he would have directed as bad Justice Shearmin, and realising as a
member of the Court of Criminal Appeal that he should likewise haw found no reason for quashing the verdict. Nevertheless he still had a. small lingering dohbt whether Mrs Thompson were present at the crime sTie arranged, or indeed whethei she Imd any idea that such a crime would be attempted.
