MR OOOLIDGE’S VIEWS. (Received this day at 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 23. It is stated at White House that Mr Coolidge feels that the chances of holding another Naval Armaments Conference before 1931 have been made very remote by the failure of the AngloFrnch attempt to reach a. naval agreement. On the other band, however, he is gratified by the changed attitude shown by both countries in correspondence relating to the proposed agreement for whereas France objected to Mr Cool id go’s invitation to a conference, she has now shown her willingness to,. 1 approach the naval problem. Mr Coolidge also feels that Britain’s position lias revealed a willingness to adjust the naval policy to the realities of the problem. His view therefore is that Britain might be willing to make further adjustments to meet the American position.
