There was shpwery weather, with a large attendance, including several New Zealanders, for the third day of the Victorian Amateur Turf Club’s meeting at Caulfield. " i Maple scored a popular success in the Cup. It was the rider, Duncan’s, first Win in this race. Trainer Holt had won the cup previously with Eurythniic. Maple’s owner is Mr Lee Steere. Maple was originally raced m Western Australia, and arrived here eight months ago. It is engaged for the Melbourne Cup, and is carrying 8.13, including lOlbs penalty. Maple has won thirteen and a-half races.

Oby Hurdles.—Conjurer 9.5, 1; Berripa 9.13, 2; Quick Deal 9.7, 3. Won by two lengths ; three lengths. Ad sum fourth. Time 4.4.

Gwyn Nursery.—Weberle 7.4, 1; Sinetre 7.7, 2; Lady Deneb 7.12, 3. Won by two lengths; three lengths. Bel Rouge was fourth. Time 1.25.
