An aluminium petrol tank marked “ Hydro Avian Lathan ” obviously Amundsen’s was picked up hv a trawler north of Troudhjeni. Though badly battered, it still contained thirty litres of petrol. There were signs that it had been violently detached from the plane. Tt bore undecipherable traces of pencil inscription.
