POPLTRY ASSOCIATIONS. NELSON, October 18
A special meeting of shareholders of New Zealand Poultry Championship Association unanimously approved off a motion that affiliated societies he permitted to link up with North or South Island association's, conditional on all championship fees being paid up. It was stated it was not intended that the Championship Association should go into voluntary liquidation as it was in a strong financial condition, there being no liabilities and substantial cash and other assets, but it was considered advisable in view of possible developments that that the Championship Association should remain dormant for a period.
WORK FOR STONEMASONS
DUNEDIN, Oct. 10
Stonemasons' in Dunedin are talking about the great spurt their craft will enjoy in Melbourne during the building of Victoria's Shrine of Remembrance. A start has been made. The Shrine is to have a granite base and a .freestone superstructure, and the cost, with the statuary, is to be £178,880. of which sum about £IOO,OOO is in band. The contractors. Messrs ATaughjvii and Lodge Brothers, are returned soldiers, all with distinguished lecotds, and they will give the preference to returned soldiers for unskilled work. When the work gets into full swing .800 men will he employed directly and L’oo indirectly.
