“THE' LOWE EAGLE”—FRIDAY

It was at a dinner-table at the Ritz that Mr Arde Bulova, of the Bulova Watch Gompany, made the statement somie time before Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic, that, he would like, too, to offer a prize to the man who made the first non-stop flight from New York to Paris. The idea was crystalized, the prize was offered, ’and as we all know', this young, obsdure post office flier flew to Paris and to popularity in some thirty hours. Coming bade aboard the United States Steamship Memphis, while still at sea, Colonel Lind ergh’s personal representative, Lt. Richard Blythe, presented him with the Bulova Prize, and he radioed immediately: Aboard U.S. SS Memphis—Accept with thanks Bulova prize and watch, it is a beauty.—Lindbergh. Then, Mr Bulova found that jewelers, nation-wide, were anxious to make known the fact that one of their industry w r as aggressive and alert, enough to take an Interest in internatioal flying, and so they asked permission to feature the fact that Colonel Lindbergh had won the prize offered by Mr Bulova. And then came the bigger idea—a watch named in honour of Colonel Lindbergh —the Bu’ova Lone Eagle! In less than a fortnight, jewellers nation-wide w r ere featuring the Bulova Lone Eagle—a handsome strap watch. It is interesting to know that more Lone Eagle watches were purchased by men in a given period of time than have ever been purchased of any one strap watch in the same period. Even at this writing, the Lone Eagle remains the biggest selling strap watch in America, and the fact, that it will continue to be the biggest seller is wall bane out hv the continued popularity of the man from whom the watnh derives its name. A word might he said about the watch itself. The Lore Eagle—a strap watch by Butova—is a pxerfect timepiece. Bulova Watches are being used by such men of aeronautic importance a.s Commander Byrd Clarence D. Chamberlain, George Neville,j Bert Acosta, etc. —a tribute, of course to the time-tell-ing accuracy of the watch. The supports on Friday are a Topical and Comedy. Saturday next —Betty Bronson in ‘Ritzy.”
