R.S.A. DEPUTATION
TO BRITISH TREASURY OFFICER

WELLINGTON, Oct. 17
Representatives of the Returned Soldiers. Association, met Hon Skeviugton, of, the. British Treasury Office, who took Lord Lovat’s place to discuss the pu ition of ----Imperial soldiers resident in New Zealand. The deputation stated se.v ■ lty per cent of the cases being dealt with by the National War Funds Council were eximperial men and urged the right to mirticinate in money available in England should he extended to lbmen now resident here. It was pointed out that the Toney raised in Now Zealand was for the specific purpose of assisting New/Zealanders, but was now ‘being spent torn immigrant soldiers. On thie: OjtW hand,. assistance was refused to New Zealanders at Home.

There were now fourteen thousand exImperial soldiers in the Dominion d'rici they would soon have more of them than of our own men.
Hon. Skevington said he would place the points raised .before Lord Lovat. ; ; ‘ •

Hon. Skevington said unless the men came out under the assisted passage scheme the medical examination would not apply. .
