COMPLETE STOPPAGE AT LODZ WARSAW, October 15.
It was because the industrialists had agreed that only an increase of five per cent, in wages be given on the condition that Labour should refrain from asking for further increases until July of 1929, that Labour proclaimed the general strike on Friday last. This was in order to force the industi ialists to make further concessions. Some of the factories resumed work on Monday, thus causing the Strike Committee specially to meet, when it was decided to reinforce the strike, and immediately the strikers stopped several street cars, and prevented the water and sewage labourers from continuing work. The personnel of all the cinemas, theatres, hospitals and sick funds have joined the strikers. The Socialists have permitted only two officials to remain at work in to organise the distribution of relief to the families of the strikers.
