WATERSIDE STRIKE
WATERSIDERS’ ACTION. (Australian Press Association). MELBOURNE, October 16. Watersider workers to-day were formulating a policy for future action, one proposal being to confine the strike to Melbourne and endeavour to obtain financial help. A number of members were convinced they were fighting a losing battle. , The Australian Council of Trades Unions are meeting the watersiders representatives in conference to-mor-row in order to plan further activities. The port of Geelong was to-day involved in the strike, stevedores of two vessels retiring and work on these vessels is at a standstill. The total enrolment of volunteers m Melbourne wharves is 4200. Shipowners have stopped enrolling them.
