MIGRATION QUESTION
1 (By Telegraph — Press Association). PALMERSTON N., Oct. 13. Confirmation of the undertaking given by Hon A. i,. Amery, when in New Zealand, that the British Government would he prepared to make advances to desirable settlers by way of amortisation loans on a dO-5Q basis with the Dominion, was received from Lord Lovnt by R. 8. Abraham, of Palmerston North, who accompanied him to Alarton . yesterday. So far as public school migrants are concerned Abraham was able to prove that 80 per cent, had been successful on farms where they bad been placed. Seveni.,\ per cent, of the farmers' were quite satisfied with the boys asking for more to be sent, lie considered those boys from the great middle classes of England made the best migrants, provided they were carefully .selected, and were provided with money to establish then: solves on farms when their apprenticeship was over.
