WATERSIDE STRIKE

WATERSIDERS STAND. AG AINST LICENSING. (Australian Press Association). MELBOURNE, Oct. 12. The Wa to insiders’ Federation, at a mass meeting, refused to obey the Central Committee’s instruction to take out licenses and resume work. They will join the seamen’s mass meeting on Sunday. SHIPS DELAYED. SYDNEY, Oct. 12. The Ulimaroa’s departure for Wellington was delayed owing to seamen not answering a call for three men. The ship, carrying 283 passengers and considerable cargo, was ready to sail at noon, hut the vacancies in the crew caused a hold-up. The signing of crews for the steamers Corio and Makambo also caused delay, though it is anticipated that when the Seamen’s Union meeting ends there will be no difficulty in filling all of the places.
